COMMUNITY SERVICE

Community Service is an important part of who I am as  person as well as an Educator. Recognizing the value of helping the community and the world we live in is one of my core principles of living. It inspires me in motherhood, teaching, scouting and existing. When I see a problem I step up to help find a solution. When a job needs to be done I am ready to do it, or coordinate others to get it done.  I do not complain,  instead I raise my hand and volunteer to make a change. I am motivated and inspired by things that make my heart full and make the world a better place. Community service is not what I do, but instead a piece of who I am. I am so thankful for the community I live in and the world entrusted into my care that I do everything I can to help it thrive. Below is a summary of some of my community service and volunteering experiences.

GIRL SCOUTS

I am currently serving my 10th year as a Girl Scout Leader. Throughout my years in Girl Scouting I have earned multiple awards  and held a variety of different positions. The best part of Girl Scouting is sharing my passion for community service and hopefully sparking a passion in the girls as well. Some community service projects that have been an ongoing passion of our troop are: caring for our beaches and parks, adopting military personnel, coordinating numerous coat drives and food drives and working with the elderly. Through the years we have hosted cookies, cocoa and carols for local Nursing home residents, surprised them with Spring, Fall and Summer crafts.  We've also hosted numerous events for fellow

Girl Scouts and children of the community. Currently we host an annual fall  leaf clean up at a local Elderly Community. I invite you to learn more about my vast experiences, dedication and volunteering through Girl Scouting in the slides below or for further details and an illustration on how Girl Scouting has impacted me as a teacher check out my Girl Scout Link here.

YOUTH SPORTS

Throughout the past 10 years I have volunteered in a variety of ways to help with various Sports organizations in the community.  I have coordinated spirit rallies, headed up fundraisers, created items to sell, assisted with team schedules, parties and awards,   donated a variety of time and equipment to enhance these events, and helped these organizations grow and offer athletes memorable opportunities.

MITTEN TREE

This tree was one community service project that I was fortunate to coordinate. The tree served as a give or take opportunity for members of the community to take or leave hats, scarves and mittens for those in need. It was a huge success and over 300 winter articles were gifted to those in need as a result that year!

BOOK FAIR

Inspired by my overwhelming love for books, books and more books along with the need for some funding in the Preschool Program where I taught. I helped to coordinate a book fair to raise money and help get us BOOKS!!

The theme of the book fair was Circus. My class kicked off the decorating for this event by creating a hallway filled with clowns. The book fair was a HUGE success.

FOOD DRIVE

Each year I assist in coordinating at least one food drive with my Girl Scout troop and when possible one elsewhere. Throughout the years I have hosted food drives as business owner at my studio, as a teacher with my class, as a Director within my school and even as the class mom in conjunction with a class party. This particular food drive was for Thanksgiving meals the theme was: "It feels Ducky to give."

EVENTS & FUNDRAISING

During the 2015/16 school year I coordinated a variety of fundraising events with my 8th grade Girl Scout troop to help them earn a one week long trip to Hollywood, California. One of the biggest fundraisers we hosted was a Pirate & Princesses in the Park event that was frequented by over 500 people. The event was complete with live music,  food, games, prizes and character appearances and we  raised over $3000.
